The plan for this week

Actually I am not entirely sure what my plans are for this week. I am going to do my last update for into the dungeon, so I can mark it as complete. So what I will likely do is just read through different endings and see which could use with extending a bit, then expanding them. Since I want to wrap things up, probably will not do any crazy new paths going off in a different directions.

So my goal is to complete all the unfinished games I have by the end of the year. Siege of fallhammer is basically finished but I left it as unfinished so I can adjust things a bit. I might go through and add an easy ‘story’ option where you don’t have to worry about combat, since a lot of people didn’t like that. After that I got to finish up old souls, kawaii and Magic contest. Those all are a bit longer but I got time to finish them up.

After these big projects I will probably try to knock out some of the smaller projects. The most complex one I have unfished is all girls are sluts, which I might put that off until I get all the smaller projects out of the way first.

On a side note, I decided I will release something special for my birthday this Friday, but it isn’t’ going to be a game. It is going to be a short story about a guy turned into a female naga.

Birthday

It is my birthday on Friday. I was thinking of maybe doing a short special game for my birthday. Though I am not too sure, since it isn’t that long until my birthday. A small game would be doable, without messing up my normal schedule.

Update

So updated Magic Girl Contest. I filled in a lot of the gaps but the major changes is a new Isabel and Soina sex scene in the locker if you have their relationship high enough. There is also extra scenes for the daily relationship stuff as I added another day. The relationship for the main 4 people stop if you had already hit the cap but it continues on with stuff like the wolf club and Dr Lisle. There are some more scenes written as well but you can’t access them yet, since not enough time progressed.

Lisle actually has 5 scenes written, even though you can only get to the 3rd. I mentioned earlier in the week she had some extra you couldn’t access(the 3rd and 4th one) but then I ended up writing the next part as well.

Things probably need to be reorganized a bit or maybe I should make a list of all the events, since it is getting a bit confusing on which events become available at which point, since a lot of them are staggered. Since I got more time today, perhaps I will make that list today.

Play

Stuff

So been testing out the timer, and I noticed some things. It works to help me stay focus on task, knowing there is a timer keeping track. Though I notice it only works for like an hour. After that I start feeling a bit more distracted and stuff. The best daily goals make be to work an hour, and then also achieve X objective, so like a combination of both methods.

Anyway, I am making good progress with Magical Girls overall. So far I been doing a lot of sex scenes, since the later relationship lead to sexy stuff and I been focusing on those high relationship scenes. Though I need to go make other scenes for people who didn’t really focus on advancing any single relationship very far.

Extra stuff

So going back through some of the relationship stuff, I noticed there are a few scenes which you can’t even get to yet. Basically scenes you can pick when you do can choose what you will do during the day, but not enough time has advanced to get them yet. One of them is with the counselor which has a couple of scenes and the later one convincing you to go to school as a girl from now on.

I think originally I didn’t add some scenes like that in, because it might cause some conflicts, if for example she convinces you to go to school as a girl but some reason you are a guy at school for something else. I think for the time I will just add any of those scenes in as they are though, and if it creates a conflict I will just make notes of that. Then I can come in later to clean up any conflicts that are created. Otherwise, just looking for possible conflicts is a task in itself and it will distracted me a lot.

Progress

So making progress with the update for magical girls today. I kind of like the set minimum time thing. Taking a short break at the moment because there is a lot of distractions around but I made decent progress today. Though the scenes I been working on are kind of all over. Since it is all optional stuff you only see if you pursue a relationship with different people, I feel like by the end of the week it one make much forward progress in the story but it will flesh things out by giving a ton of different variations for each playthrough. I will probably need to spend at least one day doing just code stuff to organize things as well.

The plan

So this week I am working on magic girls, and I will be filling in the place holders from last time. Which is a lot of different relationship stuff and what not. So many of these scenes are going to be special scenes, so they wont be in the same format as the earlier ones where you could choose who to hangout on your time off. However, I was thinking of continuing that as well.

Originally I was thinking of making when the contest start the cutoff point, and if you didn’t go down some of those routes by then you would just miss out on them. Now I am thinking I wont just cut it off but modify it, so for example if you don’t meet the clone girls at all prior to the contest, their path will just fall off because it is too late to meet them. And if you don’t process a path far enough to do sexy stuff with a girl by the contest, maybe you will go down a path where you can only be friends but no romance.

I am also going to try something new this week. I have the overall goal to fill in the gaps for all the place holder scenes this week and release the update Saturday but I am just going to leave it at that. Instead of the daily goals I am going to try a time based one. I tried it a bit earlier today, I set my phone for an hour alarm and I just focused on writing until it went off. I am going to try that, and I am going to set my goal for 3 hours everyday this week.

I am pretty sure I can do more than 3 hours of writing each day, and I probably will on some days but that will be my minimum goal. The idea being that even on an unmotivated and unproductive day I can at least get that 3 hours in. On days I am feeling motivated and focused, will probably do a lot more but those days are not the problem. My problem are my slow unmotivated days. Which is why I want to focus on that weakness and make sure I am doing something even on those bad days, so I can get more consistent results day to day. I will probably add the daily goals back in as well. If this works, then it will be daily goal with a minimum time each day. I just want to this this out by itself first to see how it works out however.

Hmm

So I was thinking of my daily schedule and I was wondering if it would work well if I set a time limit of how much I had to work on a game in a given day, instead of just a goal. Or maybe both, like “Do this scene and spend at least x hours writing.” I would probably keep the mandatory hours fairly low, just as a starting point. Since I would likely keep on writing after I get started, or may work on other projects after I finish the main daily goal for the day. So it wouldn’t be the total time working in any given day, just specific time spent with absolute focus on that one specific project. If I set a timer for that, then I ensure I actually get at least that much done and if there are any distractions I would pause the time and then start it again when I get rid of the distraction.

That might keep me from getting distracted on side stuff, with the feeling I can finish the work later. I might try that next week to see how it goes.

Update

Kawaii new update is up! I kind of wonder if I should be updating these games every week as I am not sure a week worth of content is enough that many people would want to play each update. Though mainly I am doing it just to keep active and so people see there are constant updates, because if you leave things too long, then you just don’t end up getting anything finished.

Well in the aspect of keeping active it definitely works. The first half of the game took like a year to do and the second half has taken only a couple of months and that is while also doing updates for a bunch of other games as well.

Anyway, this update covers the aquarium and a street market. Except for the final area, I can now say I got the entire framework of the game and all the locations you visit along the way done. So once I finish the last area, I can go back in and add in more side encounters and interesting events at each of the different locations. Including a lot more romance options as well.

Hmm

I feel like a lot of my motivation is a bit down doing Kawaii, and I wonder if it is because I added a bit too many different areas to explore. They are fun and interesting areas, but since there is a lot of them and not all of them really advance things much story wise, it makes it feel a bit slow. At least to me writing them. Long term I don’t think that is an issue since I plan on going back and fleshing out the different areas with more relationship and more interactions with other characters and what not. Though in a mean time it is hard to get motivation some times.

That said, the next area coming up is the amusement park. The last few updates had basically two days done each week since they were smaller areas, but the amusement park I want to make really big since that is the climax of the game. The second day is also when you will have a big date with whoever you get into a relationship with, having the entire day to spend with them. So I may spend two weeks on just the first day for that one.
