An idea I had, was what if I had levels in a magic skill like earth magic, then actual spells you had to learn but each spell has certain requirements. And you could research or cast the spells you are not good enough to cast but then there was a chance of it going wrong? Your skill level could also help in determining if you can counter spells cast on you.
YES!! That’s exactly what I meant by the skyrim stats levelling system. The game also seems kinda DD themed.
