Hmm

I was working on the game a little more to set things up to see where it can go and I realize the game will be massive. Which is good, since I did want a big game! Every area is going to need like a different version for if you go as a male human, or female human, or cat girl, or cat guy(since the first spells I will be adding will be to try to turn back).

Test Game

I am going to upload what is basically the introduction for the big game. I am not sure I will go with this 100% but this is what I was looking at it. It actually has a decent amount of content.

So right from the start there is two major paths, the familiar or apprentice path, with smaller choices like how feminine you are which will make it harder to change back into a guy(if you are a familiar you might not be able to change back at all!).

I think I want to make the game so there are areas you can explore like the Eternal hot springs and you will go through them and stuff will happen and you can learn magic and do tasks and stuff. Since this is the introduction you just go through the one area, but the bigger game you will be more free to go where you want.

There are also some special locations you can find, which you will be able to go back to later. Maybe I will have like free time exploration which you can use to go to minor locations between the major areas. And in those minors ones you can learn spells or get special items, or make friends or romances or who knows what.

Still not entirely sure about the skills and stuff but I will work on that. Anyway give it a try and let me know what you think.

Ideas

An idea I had, was what if I had levels in a magic skill like earth magic, then actual spells you had to learn but each spell has certain requirements. And you could research or cast the spells you are not good enough to cast but then there was a chance of it going wrong? Your skill level could also help in determining if you can counter spells cast on you.

Hmm

I just did a little test writing for a mage game to see how it would go. I kind of like the story of it, but didn’t love the mechanics. I had stats for different kinds of magic but I am not sure it worked well. Maybe if you learn individual spells and stuff, that would be cool?

Big Game

So I was thinking of some ideas for the big game. I will officially get started and focus on it starting next month but I will probably do some prep work to get things set up earlier. I still got to finish that short game I was working on too, which I am almost done with, just been lacking motivation to write the last few scenes(it will definitely get done before the end of the month and honestly I can probably finish it in a day when I get motivated).

Anyway, I was kind of thinking of maybe doing a game about a mage(or witch?) who is travels around. There could be different areas you go and explore and then when in those areas can run into random(or semi random) sexy encounters and stuff. I am not entirely sure why you would be traveling around yet, but maybe to train or collect resources for spells and what not.

I was thinking a mage, as you could suffering a loss and get transformed into something, but can perhaps turn yourself back or find a way to deal with the changes and what not. I also had an idea where you might get ‘cursed’ which slowly tries to turn you into something over time and you have to try to resist it, or cure it.

Plans

So I been thinking about it, and I think I may try the approach of making a big game, and releasing updates early to people on patreon. That would be a nice reward for people on patreon(which I do have and greatly appricate those who support me, even though I don’t actively use it much!). My patreon has never been that big since I don’t use it that often and don’t push it much, so that is my fault. So I should give that more of a try and try to push it more actively, and then people can get the reward of early updates for it.

If that doesn’t work well, then for the next big game, I can just try selling it. Though at least I will have a really big game, that everyone can look at, to get an idea of what sort of game I am trying to sell. I will still also work on smaller games and updating other games on the side as well.

For the big game I will work on, I have not decided what to go with. However, I sort of feel like I want go with more of a ‘gamey’ type game than a choose your adventure type one. So like a character that has stats and equipment and the like. I will work out some ideas in the next couple of weeks.

Money

So we live in a harsh world where you need money, or well you basically die. Well I am not any where close to dying at the moment, but I do need to worry about bills more and more in life. It would be nice if I could make some money with the stuff I do here, since I been doing it a long time and I think I am fairly good at it, plus I spend a ton of time on doing it. That said, I do still plan on finishing old games, and still plan on making games for free, no matter what. It is just I been thinking of stuff on the side, that would help me, you know not die and hopefully not get some really lame job that takes all my time hehe.

So here are some thoughts I had, for making money(that anyone reading this would actually care about)…

  1. So not directly related to making games, but semi related is I had thought about writing a bunch of naughty, transformation related stories, then like selling them on amazon or something. Basically that sort of business model works by just making a lot of cheap short stories. The idea being you might not make much per any given story but over time you can make a lot of them, and slowly it adds up to something.

I kind of like that since I could write stories that don’t make a great game, as a story to sell instead and it also wouldn’t interrupt me working on games on the side either. It doesn’t really take away from what I am doing now, just adding a new thing. The downside is I just never did anything like that before and it is new to me, and transformation stuff might be a little niche(though maybe that is fine even if it is?). Though if you look at places like amazon there are tons of books like that, so there has to be some market right?

  1. I could make a really big game that I charge for or something(or crowd source it?). I know exactly what sort of stuff people would like and I have a ton of experience, so making a game people would enjoy shouldn’t be an issue. I do worry a little that an entirely text based game might not have a huge fan base if you have to pay for it. Since these days entirely text based game are not super popular, except for like the games I usually make, which are free. So why pay for stuff you can get free?(I do get the irony, that making tons of free games, also makes it harder to make money with games).

Well the obvious answer to that, is that it needs to go to the next level. This is something I also been considering, since making a really big game feels like it would be a nice challenge. Though it makes me nervous since it would be very time consuming(even making free ones takes a lot of time), and there isn’t much guarantee there is much of a market for it. However, it is something I know I can do.

2B. I was also just considering that I could collaborate with someone. Since that opens other possibilities, since a group can do more than a single person can. With some collaboration, then it is possible to make a more complex game with graphics and stuff too. The question is with who though? I have had some luck with collaboration but nothing ever involving money.

  1. I think I mentioned this before too, that I been thinking of writing a book. It isn’t really related to making games here, but it is still writing related so I mention it. I kind of want to write a book too and I worked on a couple(even did an entire draft for one). Though that is a more long per process, so even if it eventually works out, not sure it will helps with money in the more short term(as in writing, publishing, selling, then getting the money for a book could take years).

Anyway, those are just thoughts I have been having.

Hmm

Going to delay the update I was going to do this week a little bit, since this is kind of a busy week and Easter is this weekend. I should have the game finished by next weekend though.

Meta Slut!

So this game is kind of crazy. It is about VR, dreams, fae, and stuff happens. There is like 20 endings and there is a lot of bad endings that block you from the end, so it should be a little challenge to actually get the true ending. One wrong choice will get you a game over(though maybe not right away).
