So trying to get things done by 5 works fairly well, except for days like today. Was really busy during the day and had to babysit my nieces for a while and had other stuff I had to do which I couldn’t put off. So it is 4:30 and I have not even started yet today. So there is pretty much no way I will hit that deadline for today. That said it isn’t a massive issue, since I can still work on it this evening.

Progress
So I made progress with Transformation Freak, the new game I was hoping to finish this week. Though I kind of wonder if the tfgamesite contest came out a day earlier if I would be working on that instead. It was kind of distracting that it suddenly came out and I wanted to work on it! Well there is a long time before that contest is due.
Actually it made me think that the reason I am often more focused in the morning, is probably because I just keep coming up with more and more ideas as the day goes on, so my mind is distracted between all sort of things I want to work on at once.
Contest
I been waiting for a new contest on the tfgamesite for like over a year, and they been promising to do one but never did. Well finally they started a new contest! It is a storybook theme and of course I am going to make a game for it. It needs to be based on a fantasy type classic story, so I need to think of a story to base the game off of. I am trying to think if I should go for a really well known and popular story, so people will be able to recognize it and be interested in it. Or should I just do something very unexpected and surprise everyone.
Goals
So I was thinking about trying a few different things. First is that I will release games on Saturday instead of Friday. That gives me an extra day to work on games and usually Saturday is a better day for me to work, with less distractions as well. I was also thinking of putting daily deadlines at a set time, so that it motivates me to work earlier in the day and not put things off. Since putting them off makes me less motivated when I do get around to working on it. Of course I will still work on things later in the day, I am just making it my goal to get the important stuff done earlier. Then later I can work on side projects, or continue working on the main projects.
I am going to test this out this week to see how it goes and I am going to test it out with the new game I was working on, that I mentioned before. The one with the kinky girl that keeps getting herself randomly transformed into a bunch of stuff. It is basically just a bunch of transformations and doesn’t have a major overall story, so it should be easy to complete. So it will just be the one week, then release it as it is and be done with it. So for this weeks goal:
Tuesday: Finish cow scene, tg scene(from a girl to guy back to a girl again), and demon scene
Wednesday: Finish dog scene, werewolf scene, and goat scene
Thrusday: Flesh out any of the smaller scenes, so all transformation scenes has at least 2 choices(not including choices to flee the scene).
Friday: Add in two more ending scenes
Saturday: Organize everything.
Currently I do have the game sort of organized but it follows the pattern of go to x transformation scene, get a couple of choices, then go to the next one. I want to organize it a bit more so that isn’t so linear. That might just be giving the players options which order they want to go to scenes in, or giving them a few options and they can explore the one they like instead of doing them all in a row. So that is the sort of organization I want to do on Saturday.
Also everything will have a deadline for 5pm pst that day. That will be my goal.
For monthly goals, I will do this:
May 1st: Transformation Freak release 100% complete
May 8th: Kawaii Update
May 15th: Magic Girl Contest update
May 22nd: Into the Dungeon. This will be the last update for this to flesh out some endings and what not. Then I will say it is complete and it is going off my update schedule.
May 29th: Old Soul update
Things
So I am thinking of adjusting my weekly schedule and how I go about things a little bit. I will make a more detailed post about it tomorrow when I work it all out. Though I was thinking of releasing games on Saturday instead of Fridays. That also gives an extra day to work on stuff. I was thinking I probably don’t need Saturday for a free day to work on random projects since I end up doing side stuff randomly each day. So I am thinking of having a harder deadline each day to work on the main project in the morning with a cut off period to stop work, then work on side projects later in the day in a more free flow way. Anyway I set more concrete details tomorrow.
Today I am working on the side project I mentioned the other day. Where I am testing out some outlines and stuff. I would say the vast majority of my games(though not all) are written in a very free flow manner, where I just come up with everything as I go. Often that is because a lot are just random ideas I have then I jump in and make a small game or something and that is all it needs. So I am experimenting with a very structure game. I also plan on going back and doing a lot of revision and editing on it, which I often don’t do for games either(I do edit them and change things when needed, but rarely do a full on revision of the entire story). I am curious if it is worth the extra effort.
For those wondering, it is a game related to horse transformations. So if you like horse games, you can look forward to that. It is a side project game, so I am not sure when I will be finished with it though.
Update
Just put up the update for Kawaii, with the visiting shrines and temples and the festival. There is two sex scenes during the festival, one with Emma’s brother if you showed interest in him and one with the guy from the hotspring if you met him. Which makes it a bit lopsided towards heterosexual(in girl form) people, though I am considering adding more girls relationship stuff later for Emma and Sophia. The girl you met at the concert might be a good choice too but I was thinking she probably wouldn’t be there, which is why I didn’t add her in. Though you get more sex scenes earlier with her anyway, so maybe it already works out.
Hmm
I was working a bit out of order today, and worked on some relationship stuff, which I was going to work on tomorrow. Though I did work on some festival stuff as well. I don’t have stuff all over the place like I did last week working on magic girl contest, but things are a bit unorganized this week. Well that might not be too surprising, since I did delay things a little bit.
On a side note, even though I had some trouble working on Kawaii this week, I did do some work on other thing. One side project I worked on a little bit, I am trying a new way to outline and plan things out, to see if it makes things work better. To be honest, a lot of the time I don’t really outline things at all and just get a good idea and go with it. Which is part of the reason for some problems. So I wanted to see how it would work out if I make a really detailed outline and plan for a game.
Today
So seems like it was a good choice to just delay things a day, since already I got a lot more done today than I would have yesterday even if I stayed up all night working. I do think I have a lot more focus in the morning, so I started a bit earlier today and go through some of the stuff I was having trouble with.
I have not finished the optional scenes yet today but I the basics for them done. Still considering what else to do with them as they are a bit short though. However, I jumped ahead a bit and was working on the relationship stuff a bit earlier and even did one sex scene. That scenes involves the guy you meet at the hot springs(if you end up a bit slutty) and you can run into him again. I was also thinking of having Sophia’s brother show up during the festival, so you can have a scene with him too.
I was also considering scenes with Sophia and Emma to move those relationship further but then I was thinking there probably hasn’t been enough set up for a romantic scene during the festival. So I might need to add some stuff a bit earlier into the game where you start a path with them. Maybe something at the hot spring since that is a time when you see them naked. I will give that some thought.
Delay
I keep getting really distracted with stuff and I am having trouble focusing today and also didn’t make a ton of progress yesterday. So I decided, I am going to take the rest of today off to get everything sorted. Originally I made Saturday the catch up day, since I have a lot more free time on that day usually, so can work hard. So I am going to use that day to work and push everything back a day. So the next update for Kawaii will be on Saturday instead of Friday and tomorrow I will get everything done that I am supposed to have done today.
Hmm
So I was working on doing the scenes to visit the temples and shrines today for Kawaii, but then I wasn’t really sure what to write. Like your group just goes around and explores them a bit but nothing super exciting is going on there. Well originally when I was doing the part of the game where you plan out your daily activities, I was just throwing out random stuff I thought would make sense in a game about visiting Japan. Though I wasn’t entirely thinking about what places would be best for the story. Which is how I got visiting the temples and shrines, which is a common thing people do when visiting Japan. Though it isn’t necessarily a girly or cute environment, nor are temples a place that you are going to actively do stuff in.
So in the options you pick to visit, there is the spooky haunted shrine. Now in that shrine, it has the haunted element to it, which adds more to the scenes and gives more context for things the player can do and how to interact with others. Just saying the characters are visiting a temple though doesn’t really give that though.
Anyway, I feel like I didn’t really plan this out as well as I could have, so it left me a little stumped on how to write out the scenes of exploring the temples and shrines around the town.
