You know you aced it. Next year you will graduate with your bachelor's degree, but for now it was summer break and time to party! You walk out into the parking lot to get to your car, when suddenly there is a loud screech and a car driving way too fast for the parking lot slams into you. There is a sickening crunch as bones snap and you are thrown up into the air. Glass cracks as you slam into the windshield and flip over the top of the car, sailing through the air. Later as you grew older, and went through highschool you were forced to make a choice. What is it that you would do with your life? Though as time stands still and your life flashes before your eyes, you can't forget your first kiss, such a wonderful thing. Later you would meet Alice in your first year of college and you fell in love with her at first sight. Her best traits were... You can tell time is short now, as the pavement grows closer. You think back about your loving parents, they were always kind to you and paid for your schooling. You don't want to die... You wish you could live... You would do anything to live... To have a second chance at life... Your battered and broken body slams into the ground and the world goes dark as pain rushes through your body. Though at the moment of your death you hear a strange chanting, and a howling that echos throughout the world. You see a bright light, leading you to the afterlife, but the howling comes not from the light. It comes from some where else. Strange words whisper into your mind, and though you do not understand them you sense something within them. The voices are calling out to you, offering you a second chance and a choice. You can pass on to the after life, to see what is next...Or you can be reborn, live a second life within the physical world. Yet the voices are so far away, the howling is but an echo in the wind. It isn't a second life upon earth but some land far away. Death or life. You are not ready to die here, you have not lived to your fullest. You wish to continue on and so you go towards the voices that howl out to you. The world spins and pain fades away. You cold body grows warm once more and you [[awaken]].(set: $caretaker+=1)

The howling grows louder and louder, and it surrounds you on all sides. You open your eyes and find yourself being held up in the air by a canine like creature. A wolf, perhaps coyote, or fox? Though this creature is covered in dusty brown fur, with a long muzzle filled with sharp teeth it's eyes had a gentle human like quality to them. It has sharp pointed wolf like ears and stands on it's hind legs with human like fingers, tipped with small claws. It has a human like torse and arms but digitigrade legs and feet, and a long fury tail. The hair on his head grows a bit longer than the rest of his fur, giving him more human like hair or a mane. Clearly these are not creatures of earth. You realize there are many more of these creatures all around you, and their howling ends as they look to you. He lowers you down and holds you with one arm, and you realize just how small you have become. A tiny creature that he can hold with one hand. His free hand reaches out and touches your nose, and instantly your attention in drawn to the new muzzle that you have. You look down at your fur covered body and realize that you are one of these creatures. He moves and brings you to another one, a female judging by the swell of her ample bosom. She carefully takes you into her arms and holds you close to her, nuzzling you to her soft chest. So it would seem you truly were [[reborn]] in this new world.

You have such a weak and helpless body, that there is very little you can do on your own. Reborn a baby, you must spend time regrowing your physical strength. Yet your mind is still your own, fully developed and as keen as ever. You spend your time looking around and listening to what the others say. As time passes you begin to pick up more and more of their language. Your mother, the female with deep red fur that is almost always near by, is called [[Rose Lily]]. Your father is home less often, but when he is around he does give you and your siblings a lot of attention. He is called Sky Caller and looks more like a wolf. You have two siblings, as far as you can tell they are the same age as you. Perhaps having multiple children at once is common among these creatures? One is called Sky Lily and has light pure white fur. The other is Peace Bringer, and has dusty brown fur. You have already noticed a pattern that family members share common words in their names, yet Peace Bringer neiter shares a name with mother or father, and you are unsure why. Perhaps your sample size is just too small to fully recognize the pattern of names. You are called Elder Lily. You get the sense that you are treated differently from your siblings, as if you are more special. No that isn't fair, mother treats you all very well and shows no lack of love for any of her children. They seem to know you are not a normal baby however. You have little chance to explore your new world, but you know you live in some kind of large tent, and these canine people live in what you would consider the wilds. Though the many tents around could be considered some kind of village perhaps? You need more time to learn of this world. You only wish you could [[walk on your own]].

Rose Lily, your mother, stands at five foot six and has deep red fur that covers her entire body. She has a fox like muzzle and dazzling blue eyes. She has long red hair that falls to her mid back, which is tied back in a ponytail. She has three silver ring piercings in each of her pointed fox like ears. The first is mid way down her ear along the outer edge, with one near the pointed tip and the third between the two. She often wears a light brown skirt and matching top, made of loose fitting fabric. [[Return|reborn]]

With time you learn their language and can even speak it a bit, and your body strengthens. You are the first of your siblings to walk on two legs, while they continue to crawl for the time being. With your new digitigrade stance it is like learning to walk all over again, but your body feels natural to you now as you been in it for some time. Growing more used to your body you realize that you are female now. You also recognize your sister Sky Lily is also female, and that Peace Bringer is your brother. "Oh look at our little Elder Lily walking by herself today!" Your mother smiles as she watches you moving around. Though your attention instantly goes to a stranger you have never met before. A canine with dusty brown fur, wearing a leather jacket and boots. Wait, you remember him. He is the first person you saw when you arrived in this world. He smiles as he looks you over, "Hello Elder Lily, do you remember me?" You give a slight nod of your head, which delights your mother. "See how bright she is? She surely received the Dawn's blessing." He laughs gently, as he nods. "Yes, I was sure of it when we did the ritual. Though I must officially confirm it." He moves to take a seat on the floor and motions you to him, "Please come here my child." You look to your mother who walks over and picks up your brother and sister and then smiles to you, "Be a good girl and answer his questions." She then turns to leave the tent with your siblings, leaving you alone with the man. "Elder Lily, you have been patient and lived as any new born babe does. Though we all know that you are no babe. You have taken on the name Lily after your mother, and the name Elder for you are the third born of triplets. It is law among our people that when triplets are born, the ritual of the Dawn's Blessing is performed. We call out to Great Wilds and a soul that is at death's door yet is not ready to pass is given a chance, a chance to be reborn. If our offer is rejected the child is born normally but still granted much respect among our people. A blessed and lucky child. However, should the offer be accepted the old soul shall be reborn." He pauses briefly as he looks you over, "If you even slightly understand what I am saying, then it is clear evidence that you are indeed an old soul. Today we shall put you to the test. Our tribe has five true elders, each have been given a special feather. Retrieve these feathers and return to me before dusk and you shall be recognized by all." [[Test of the Old Soul]]

You have grown used to the small world that is your home, but now outside your family's tent there world seems far larger. The sky is wide open and a beautiful deep blue, the white puffy clouds float across the sky one a light breeze. Without your parents near by, the world seems even larger as you realize you have true freedom to go any where you wish. "Where can I find these elders?" He smiles, "Ahh you show true wisdom by asking. They are around the tribe, and should be easy to find. For an adult this test is a trivial matter, for a child of your age it is asking the impossible." You listen to his words and a thought comes to mind, "Are you one of the elders?" Grinning he nods, and slowly he pulls out a feather from under his jacket. "I am, and it seems you are one step closer to your goal. I am Howls to the Void. Ritual Master of this tribe." You catch the scent rabbits and follow it around a tent, to find four dead, and skinned rabbits hanging upside down. Blood drips from them, showing how fresh the meat is. A large wolf with dark black fur, is doing something with the rabbits hide. You can't make it out as the hides are laying on a wooden table that is too tall for you to see the top of. Near by on the ground however, is a bow and a quiver full of arrows, and a large hunting knife. The man doesn't look at you, and focuses on his work even as he speaks. "You know what a knife is yes? Well don't touch it. Even as an old soul, if your mother found out I let one of her children play with a knife, she would gut then skin me." You look more closely at the knife then look to him and give a nod, "Okay." He smiles back in return, "The rebirth of an old soul is a rare and special thing. The universe has given you a second chance to live but do not get too arrogant, if you die here it is doubtful the world will give you a third chance at life. Try to life a good full life, make sure this second chance counts." He slides a hand down to offer you a light blue feather, stained with a few drops of blood.(set: $choice5 = 1) You carefully consider his words as you take the feather and turn towards the main village. The ground here becomes a bit more rocky and unstable, and there are fewer people around. It seems like it is probably safer to not wander around here too much, so for the time being you look back to the main village. (if: $choice2 is 1 and $choice3 is 0)[ A coyote with greying brown fur shows up behind you, as you turn around. "You were pretty brave to face Sweet Honey. She is actually a very nice person, though it is important to properly test you. You have the good sense to avoid climbing around on these rocks, so I will grant you my feather." He smiles gently and hands you a black and white feather. "Not all tests have to be difficult." He smiles gently as he waves you back towards the village. "I am Faith Seeker by the water." You follow a worn pathway through the grass, and head out of the village. You wouldn't travel very far from the village as you are, but you can ear people not far in the distance. You come around the bend of a small hill and you spot a wolf woman with rusty brown fur, and a large swollen belly. She is sitting on a rock resting, while watching a bunch of children playing in a stream. The children are still fairly young but all are older than you. She smiles as she rubs one hand over her pregnant belly as she glances over towards you, "You sure are young to be taking a bath by yourelf. I take it you are Elder Lily?" You give a slight nod but before you can answer the children come rushing over to you, "Oh you are an elder?" One of the girls giggles softly, "Does that mean you are really an old lady inside?" An older boy looks you over, "She looks so young, I bet she can't even talk yet!" The older woman laughs softly and motions you over to her. "Now children, leave her alone. She can play with you later but right now we have important elder stuff to talk about." The children pout slightly but then go back to splashing in the water. As you move over to her, she reaches out and lifts you up and pulls you over into her lap. "Isn't it a beautiful day?" You sound of the water running down the stream in calming, and the sun is warm against your fur. She strokes your head gently, as she speaks in a sweet and gentle voice that causes you to become a bit drowsy. "Even if you are an old soul, you should remember that you were reborn and given a second chance at youth. You are a child as well. Do not be to quick to grow up, enjoy your youth..." Your eyes slowly droop as she pulls your head against her shoulder. "It would be a sin to work to hard on a beautiful day like this. As a child you have the right to take naps any time you want!" She giggles softly as she coos into your ear. "If you want to take a nap, don't worry, I will wake you before it gets too late." [[Take a nap]] [[Don't take a nap]]

You wander off in a random direction, carefully looking around to try to get your barings and to keep from getting lost. It doesn't take you long to reach the edge of your little village and you come across a wide open field with tall grasses. You climb up onto an old tree stump to get a little height advantage and you spot a man in the grasses with a bunch of cows. Noticing you the man tilts his head and walks over. He looks around for a moment then calls out to a woman passing by, "Hey, you see this child's parents?" The woman looks around and then walks over closer, "What? You mean she is wandering around by herself?" She reaches down to take your hand, "Come on dear, lets find your parents." They are treating you like a little kid, but that is hardly fair! Well, you are a child and they seem nice enough. Still, you need to stand up for yourself to clear up the confusion. "I am Elder Lily, and I am on a quest to find the True Elders." The two are taken aback by your statement, but then the man starts to laugh. "Oh the elders are up to their old games again?" His eyes narrow slightly as he looks around, then he lifts a hand and waves to an old coyote with greying brown fur. "It is no use hiding. I know you Elders wouldn't let a babe wander around without supervision." The coyote lets out a chuckle and comes out from behind a tent and walks over. He shrugs then looks at you with a smile, "I guess the jig is up. I am Faith Seeker. I am in charge of the village's scouts and explorers." He pulls out a bright red feather and gives it to you. "I will be near by keeping an eye on you during the test, though I am not supposed to interfere." The woman rolls her eyes slightly, and reaches out to take your hand. "You are so useless Faith Seeker. Come on dear, I will take you to a real Elder. She will be able to help find your parents." The coyote quickly turns to the girl, "What? I am a real elder!" You take her hand and follow her to a near by tent, "Elder are you in?" There is a short reply and she opens the tent and leads you inside. Within is a beautiful pure white vixen, lounging around on soft furs in the middle of the room. "Sorry to bother you, but I found this lost child wandering around near the pasture." She smiles as she motions the other girl to leave, then starts to giggle as she looks you over. "So brought to me like a lost little babe? Should I take you home to your mommy?" "No, I am here for the feather..." She laughs loudly as she stretches and then slowly stands to her feet. She pulls a long thin blue feather from between her cleavage. She holds it up over her head, far out of your reach. "I will not recognize an Elder who has to be brought in here like a little child. You are nothing but a little brat." She leans in close to you, nearly pressing her muzzle to your own as she shows off her sharp teeth, "I bet you still suckle from your mothers teat like a newborn pup." She then step in close and presses her hand to your chest and pushes you over backwards. You stumble over and collapse to the floor. [[She is a bully, stand up to her!]] [[Run away crying!]]

Tears fill your eyes briefly but you know that you are not a little child! You take a deep breath as you stand up to the much larger adult, "I am not a baby!" She steps back and chuckles softly, "Oh ho, so this little pup has a bite after all? Or perhaps it is all bark?" She then opens her mouth wide and flash her teeth as she growls at you then lunges forward and snaps her jaws down inches from your face. You pull back and stumble over backwards, landing on your butt and she bursts out laughing. You sit there for a moment before standing back up and staring at her, and suddenly her expression changes. "I like you girl. You might still be a little pup but you have some guts. The fact that you have not ran off to your mommy is good enough for now. I will not fully recognize you, but I will allow you to continue your test." She lowers the feather down and offers it to you. It seems you are one step closer! Falling didn't hurt at all, but the surprise of an adult just knocking you over is startling. Plus she is acting so mean, and treating you like nothing but a baby. You can't help it as tears start to well up in your eyes. As you turn away from her, you find yourself running from the tent. You flee as fast as you can, though you don't get very far before you are scooped up into the arms of someone. You look up and realize it is your mommy! You hug her tightly as you press your face into her chest and cry. She coos softly as she lifts a hand to stroke your face gently, "It is okay Elder Lily." You hold onto her tightly as the tears flow for a few minutes longer, though it is hard to cry with your mommy there to comfort you. Eventually the tears stop and she smiles and sets you back down on the ground. "Come on dear, you can't give up easily. This is a sacred task." She takes your hand and leads you back to the mean foxes tent and leads you inside. The elder bursts out laughing as she looks to your mother, "Oh this is great, she ran to get her mommy!" Your mother frowns slightly, "Come on Sweet Honey, don't pick on her. She is just a child." The elders chuckles softly as she walks over to you, "You hear that, just a child?" You cling to your mother's leg and look down at the floor as you whisper, "Please, can I just have the feather...?" She tilts her head slightly. "What is that?" "Please..." She bursts out laughing once more. "That is hilarious! You are terrified and clinging to your mother but you still have the nerve to ask for the feather. Maybe you are not a lost cause after all." She slowly reaches out and offers you the feather, "You are still just a little pup in my eyes, but I can work with this..." Some how you came out ahead, and one step closer to your goal. You rest your head against her and drift off to sleep. It was such a nice day afterall, who could turn down a little nap. Some time later you slowly blink awake and find that the rest of the children are no longer playing in the water, and instead taking a nap in the grass near by. The woman smiles gently to you as she strokes your face. "Such a little cutie when you are passed out asleep." She giggles and gives you an orange feather tipped with a bit of red. "Here you are sweetie, take care." You stretch and yawn lightly as you turn to head back to the main village. [[Main village|Head outside]](set: $choice4 = 1)

You shake your head slightly as you pull away from her soft and cozy arms. So tempting to take a nap but you are on an important mission! She giggles softly and leans in to kiss you on the forehead. "Well I guess this is a big task. Though try not to rush through life too quickly dear, make sure to enjoy it!" With that she gives you an orange feather tipped with a bit of red and you head back to the main village. [[Main Village|Head outside]](set: $choice4 = 1)

With the five feathers in your tiny hands you stand in front of Howls to the Void. He grins as he looks you over. "Very well done! You have passed the test, and now all that remains is the ritual of acceptance." He takes the feathers from you, "Your mother will help you prepare for tonight. We shall perform the rite when the moon is high." He turns to leave and your mother enters the room. She rushes to you and lifts you up and hugs you tightly to her soft body. "My little girl! I knew you were special!" She smiles and sets you back down and goes to get something from another room, a tiny little outfit! In that moment you realize you have gotten used to walking around naked and you had not even seriously considered the idea. Though as you think about it, you realize that most of the adults usually do wear clothing of some sort. However, you are certain that being naked isn't as taboo as it was on earth. Your mother helps to dress you in a leather skirt that is half way between a full skirt and a loincloth and a nice leather shirt. The shirt is very fancy and lined with soft white rabbit fur and it contrasts nicely against your bright red fur. She helps you put on a pair of boots that seem a bit large for you. You stumble slightly, not used to wearing boots as she gets one on, then the other. "Hmm, where did it go?" Mother looks around a bit then laughs as she spots your sister playing with a long strip of white cloth. "Looks like Sky Lily is jealous that her sister gets to play dress up." She smiles as she takes the strip and ties it around your forehead to make a head band, and to keep back your hair from your face. [[That evening]]

You are not used to staying up so late, and the tribe looks different in the dark. Not that it is that dark, as there are several fire pits that give off light and the moon is large and full this evening, bathing the entire area in a soft light. The stars of this world are different than your own, yet the vastness and beauty of space is no different. Thousands, perhaps millions of stars can be seen filling the sky and without modern light pollution filling the sky, the view is breathtaking. As you stare up into the sky, you do notice something different however. Many of the tiny lights in the distance seem to move about. Your mother smiles gently as she reaches out to pat you on the head as she looks up at the sky with you, "The ones that move are the great spirits, they help to power our rituals and magic. With their aid we were able to call you here to be with us." Magic? You turn away from the sky, and stare in awe as you reach your destination, and there a dozen colored lights float and blow through the air. The lights leave a slight blur of color behind them as they move about, dancing atop the top of the hill that overlooks the village. There, all the elders have gathered and they chant and guide the lights by moving their hands about. Howls in the Void stands and motions you forward. "Today we recognize the Old Soul within Elder Lily. Her knoweldge and wisdom surpasses her age and truly she is blessed. In the future we hope she can help guide our tribe and teach us of her old world as we teach her of our own!" He throws his head back and lets out a loud howl, and then each of the elders join in. The howls raise louder and louder, echoing throughout the area. You glance upwards and notice many of the moving stars begin to change color, as if replying to the howls. Then he steps forward, in his hands is a collar made of black strands and braided into it are the five feathers you collected. He places it around your neck and fastens it into place. "With this symbol of your status, you are now considered an apprentice Elder. When you grow up your spot on the council of True Elders is all but guaranteed." After that the ritual became a series of howls and cries and dances, and you are sure there was a large feast but you end up falling asleep in your mothers arms early on in the celebration. You were recognized as an Old Soul and given the status as an apprentice Elder, yet nothing seemed to change for you. Life continued on much as it had up to that point, though now you had a fancy new collar that you were expected to always wear. Though it wasn't long after that your brother and sister began to walk, and shortly after that they were speaking as well. Sky Lily pouts lightly as she walks around you, "Come on sis, let me try on your collar! It is no fair that you get something fancy like that, and I don't." You shake your head slightly, "No, it is too important to let others wear it, even if it is you." Her ears droop down low and her tail falls fall as she lets out a little whine and a whimper. "Please, no one will find out. I just want to see what it looks like on me. Just this once!" Your ears flatten out against the top of your as you sigh slightly "I am sorry, but I really can't..." She reaches out to hold your hands, "Come on, don't we share a name? We are sisters Lily! We been together since birth, how can a piece of clothing divide us like this? Just for five minutes, come on!" [[Let her try on the collar]] [[You really can't allow it]]

"Okay...But just five minutes." She lets out a squeal of excitement and jumps up and down and instantly her tail is wagging back and forth. "You are such a great sister!" You reach up and carefully undo the collar and slide it off and then hand it to her. She is careful and respectful of it as she takes it from you and slides it around her neck. With it secure she then rushes over to a near by mirror and looks at herself in it. "Ohh it looks really pretty on me, doesn't it?" You smile as you nod your head, and it really does look nice on her. She giggles as she turns back to you with a smile, "Now that I have the elder collar that makes me the boss!" You tilt your head to the side, "Boss?" She smiles as she nods, "Yeah, as the Elder sister I am clearly the boss!" Just then the tent opened and your mother steps in, her tail wags back and forth happily "Hey girls..." She freezes and almost instantly notices your sister with your collar around your neck and her tail stops moving. "Elder Lily, what are you thinking?!" Sky Lily moves towards your mother, "Sorry mom, it is my fault. I told her I really wanted to try it on..." She starts to take it off. Though her mother stares directly at you, "No it isn't dear, it is Elder Lily's fault, she should know better." Sky Lily looks back and forth between the two and then moves over to you and helps slide the collar around your neck and fastens it. "I am the elder sister though, don't blame her..." Mother lets out a sigh and then moves over to your sister and strokes her muzzle and face gently, "You are a very good older sister, and to try to take responsibility is very noble of you. I am proud of you. However you must understand that this collar has a special meaning. Your sister has a special place in the tribe but a lot more is expected out of her due to it. She must take responsibility for her own actions. If you want to be a good big sister, then you must recognize this and not try to pressure her to do things she doesn't want to. You understand?" Sky Lily gives a slow nod of her head, and your mother pats her head and rubs behind her ears slightly. She then turns her focus back onto you. Your tail slides between your legs as your ears droop down, and you can't help but look down at the floor. You have disappointed your mother, and you know it is all your fault. You knew you shouldn't have let your sister wear the collar. She reaches out and pats you on the head, stroking her fingers gently through the longer hair of your soft mane. "Such a good girl. You really love your sister don't you? I can't fault you for that, though you are supposed to be the mature one." Your tail starts to swish lightly as you realize she isn't that upset with you. "As punishment, I want you to go see Sweet Honey. Without your collar on." Your heart skips a beat.
